Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

Radio Frequency Identification is the wireless non-contact use of radio-frequency electromagnetic field to transfer data to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. The tags contain electronically stored information that could be used to identify an object. The implications of RFID are seen in pharmaceutical companies and in Livestock pets who could be correctly identified using the electromagnetic chip in them.

As every coin has two sides, there are some disadvantages to this technology. One of them is the capacity of a stranger to access embedded personal information. There are two types of RFID tags: active and passive battery assisted. Active tags are always on while the passive tags uses radio energy transmitted by the reader as its energy source.
